From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot tried to avoid strikiing a deer on landing, and lost control and struck a tree. Sikeston, MO (-23)during approach for landing, pilot stated that two deer were on the runway. The PIC applied full power to abort the landing anf in attempt to avoid the deer by flying over them, the torque of the engine and crosswind resulted in a loss of control. The aircraft departed to the left of the runway into a wooded area where it contacted trees resulting in substantial damage to the aircraft. A copy of a hand written statement by the PIC is attached. (.4)two deer ran across the runway as the airplane was at an altitude of 10-15 feet AGL during the landing flare. The pilot attempted to climb the airplane over the deer. He stated the airplane was '...behind my power curve...' And he was unable to maintain directional control. The airplane veered off the left side of the runway where it contacted a small group of trees.
