From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft lost power during aerial app and the pilot made an emerg landing in a field. Lazbuddie, TX. (.4) during the first swath run to apply fertilizer to a corn field, the pilot made a pull-up. After making a turn to the left, the engine began to lose power for an undetermined reason. The pilot `gave full throttle and leveled the wings.' The engine did not respond, so he initiated a forced landing to a wheat field. During the landing roll, the aircraft went through a fence, did a `cartwheel,' and came to a stop upright in a cotton field. An examination of the engine was not able to determine the reason for the loss of engine power. (-23) the aircraft was conducting aerial application operations. The pilot states that as he pulled up at the end of a swat run, the aircraft lost power. He landed the aircraft in a wheat field, and during the rollout, the aircraft hit a fence, nosed down, and came to rest in a plowed field. There was substantial damage to the fuselage, both wings, and the tail. The engine separated from the aircraft. The pilot received minor injuries. The engine hours since major overhaul: 304.
