From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 9, 1998, at 1015 central daylight time (CDT), an aerospatiale, AS-355-F1, helicopter, N5775H, owned and operated by air logistics l.l.c. experienced a severe vibration on touchdown at an offshore oil platform. Subsequent investigation revealed suspected divergent dynamic excitation (ground resonance) to have occurred. Helicopter was inspected for causal mechanical anomalies per aerospatiale bulletin 01.14A although wear was noted on the mgb suspension, it was within manufacturers tolerances. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed at the time and company flight following procedures were in effect. The commercially rated pilot was not injured. There were no passengers on board. The flight originated at high island block 264A, Gulf of Mexico, on June 9, 1998, at 1010 CDT.
