From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Rotated early on short rwy. Unable climb. Aborted. Landed off runway into trees. Needed run 2100FT on 2200FT runway. (.4) the pilot landed at the airport with a passenger, and picked up two additional passengers. The pilot estimated the airplane's takeoff weight to be 2,710 pounds. The pilot taxied onto runway 23, released the brakes at 1,500 to 1,700 RPM, and rotated the airplane at 61 to 62 knots IAS. After rotation, about 30 feet above the ground, the pilot felt the airplane would not clear the trees on the departure end of the runway. The stall horn sounded, and he elected to abort the takeoff. The airplane touchdown left of the runway and entered a line of trees. According to performance charts, a ground run of about 1,700 feet and a clear distance of approximately 2,200 feet was required to clear a 50 foot obstacle. The calculations were based on obtaining 2,700 RPM before brake release, and rotating the airplane at approximately 70 knots IAS. (-23) flight originated at lincoln park (N07), NJ and flew to hackettstown (N05), NJ, where the pilot picked up two passengers. Pilot departed hackettstown and stated the a/c would not climb and he thought he would not clear the trees. He departed the ground in high pitch attitude and then the stall warning horn came on. He elected to abort takeoff and could not stop the a/c before impact with trees. The flight was conducted under 14 CFR part 91.

As the FAA filed it
