What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Acft right wing became entangled in a barbwire fence during aerial application. (-23) pilot was flying northeast spraying sugar beet field on south edge next to shelterbelt. Pilot approached point where field turns east and as he banked the aircraft for the turn his right wing struck a large, wooden fence post causing substantial damage to right outboard 1/3 of right wing. Right wing became entangled in barbed wire causing aircraft to yaw to the right. It appears aircraft then became inverted as left main gear struck the ground. At this point engine separated from airframe. Aircraft then entered shelterbelt crashing into trees in an inverted position and catching fire. Pilot escaped from cockpit and shortly thereafter the aircraft was consumed by post-impact fire.
As the FAA filed it
ACFT RIGHT WING BECAME ENTANGLED IN A BARBWIRE FENCE DURING AERIAL APPLICATION. (-23) PILOT WAS FLYING NORTHEAST SPRAYING SUGAR BEET FIELD ON SOUTH EDGE NEXT TO SHELTERBELT.
