From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) On August 15, 1998, at 17:44 MDT, a Cessna 340, N28913, registered to and flown by kermit l. waters on a 14 CFR part 91 flight, was involved in an incident at the Santa Fe municipal airport in Santa Fe, NM. The airplane took off and the gear would not retract. The pilot returned the gear handle to the down position, had three green gear indicators, and flew by the tower to confirm. Tower reported that it appeared all three gear were down. He landed and upon a slow taxi as the airplane departed the runway for the taxiway, all three gear collapsed. There were only minor damage and no injuries. Follow up report will be submitted upon determination as to why gear failed.
