From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) On takeoff out of fsm, (enroute from fsm to asg), fsm tower notified the pilot that his l/h MLG door was not fully closed. The pilot elected to proceed to asg, and extended the landing gear in preparation for landing. He had an unsafe indication on the l/h MLG, and flew past the tower for a visual check of the gear. He was informed that the l/h MLG appeared to be extended. The pilot landed on runway 18, and rolled about 500 feet, at which time the l/h MLG folded aft under its nacelle, the l/h prop striking the runway. The aircraft continued down the runway for another 1300 ft, coming to rest in the dirt off the l/h side of the runway. Inspection of the aircraft revealed that the slotted pin which retained the pin shaft (p/n 0841011) in the forward lug of the MLG strut had sheared at some time in the past, allowing the pin shaft to migrate forward into the forward trunnion bearings enough to release the forward lug of the l/h MLG strut from its pivot point in the forward trunnion. Trunnion bearings were free and lubricated.

As the FAA filed it
