From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

A CFI who witnessed the incident stated the aircraft seemed high & fast, and that it touched down between 1/4 & 1/2 way down the runway. The CFI on board the aircraft stated that threshold speed was supposed to be 95, and that he may have been as fast as 100. Sometime subsequent to touchdown, the left main gear tire blew. The aircraft came to rest, clear of the runway and just short of the departure end. This was a training flight, flown by the multiengine student in preparation for his checkride.
