From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)PIC was in the right seat and the other crew member was in th e left seat. One witness reported the aircraft appeared to land a little fast and long. Both crew members reported a normal approach and landing. During rollout the left brake system reportedly failed. Upon passing numbers at the FAR end of the runway the left brake system seemed to function. Skid marks appear just passed the numbers and continue to where the aircraft came to rest. The aircraft took out the taxiway id marker and then a taxiway light assembly. The right main wheel caught the taxiway light assembly and spun the aircraft around 180 degrees. This also appears to have caused the right landing gear to fail at the upper brace attachment and fold backwards. The right fuel tank was compromised and there was a fuel spill. A three foot square area of the right wing shows signs of buckling outboard of the engine cowling. The aft wing spar appears bent and several ribs are damaged. Pilot medical, 07/24/98 other flt crew member, medical 09-26-97.

As the FAA filed it
