From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On October 11, 1998, at about 11:45 am local time, Mr. Reagan f. bradshaw departed bird's Nest airport, nw, operating a ultralight vehicle, #1026. This vehicle was originally reported to com. Center as N1026, a ultralight aircraft. On climb, he lost control and came to a stop in a field approximately 250 yards nw of the airport. Mr. Bradshaw was found dead on arrival by EMS dispatched to the scene. Revival attempts were unsuccessful. NTSB, in route, was notified that this was not a registered aircraft. NTSB released it to dps, travis county sheriff deputy, frank h. lofton, and returned to base. As FAA iic, I then cancelled my investigation in this matter.
