The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
David j. burns called me back,he told me that he's a part time flight inspector with tailwheels and bore in prescot,AZ. His student david miller, also a CFI, was on his second training flight in the PA-12 aircraft, they had departed the present airport that morning and processed to a practice area to do various flight manuvers for 15-20 minutes. They then came back to prescot for pattern work (touch and go"s). After two to three t&g's they were again inbound for landing, the instructor, burns, noticed that the aircraft was not properly lined up with runway and was drifting left. He applied right rudder to correct the student's approach. The student, miller, applied left rudder to the surprise of the instructor. At this point the aircraft was already in contact with the ground and a ground loop then occured. They were both uninjured, the instructor states he takes full responsibility. The hobbs meter read .8 hrs since start per our phone conversation, david burns told me that after the occurence, he had called the prescot police department to administer a breath test with him. He stated to me that he has had past problems with alcohol and had his pilot's certificate revoked. He has since regained his certificates and was clean. The rest was administered at the airport; which he didn't leave, by officer t. fletcher from the prescot police department. The case number used is 98-16227 with test results at .0001/11. The police department phone number is 520-778-1444. The time of the breathalyzer test was 1224 hrs. M.s.t. October 17, 1998.
