From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.4) The aircraft ground looped and nosed over during landing. The pilot had monitored ASOS prior to landing, which reported variable winds at 4 to 5 knots. There were two other aircraft in the traffic pattern, and they used the same runway. The pilot said he did not notice that the winds had changed to a slight tailwind, and on touchdown, he lost directional control and the left wing touched the runway. The aircraft then turned sharply off the runway, encountered soft mud, and nosed over. There were no discrepancies found with the aircraft. (-23) pilot lost control at touchdown, leftwingtip hit runway. A/c veered off runway onto muddy grass. A/c went over on its back after wheels sank into mud. Damaged propeller, top of wing, left wingtip, lower wing bottomside and aileron, vertical stabilizer and rudder.
