From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5) Airman was undergoing a flight instructor certification check ride given by a designated pilot examiner and demonstrating a forward slip to landing. During the landing flare a scraping sound was heard and both the airman and examiner realized the landing gear had not been lowered. The pilot examiner took control of the aircraft, applied power and proceeded to do a go around. The subsequent landing was uneventful. Inspection of the aircraft after landing revealed the propeller tips, the entrance step and tail tiedown hook had contacted the runway surface. Both the airman and examiner stated they had become distracted by numerous aircraft in the landing pattern, radio frequency congestion and completion of the maneuver. Both also stated they did not hear the landing gear warning horn.

As the FAA filed it
