What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23)On December 16, 1998, approximately 1130 CST, a Cessna 182 airplane, N1933N, was substantially damaged during a forced landing following a reported loss of engine power during cruise, the airline transport pilot started to descent near Umpire, Arkansas. The pilot, who was the sole occupant, was not injured. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed and a VFR flight plan was filed. During approach to landing, aircraft struck a live power line with nose landing gear. This gear collasped on impact, resulting in damaged to the wings, fuselage and firewall. The right flap and right aileron was damaged by upper power line. Preliminary examination of the IO-470 engine revealed that a connecting rod failed and penetrated the engine case forward left cylinder. Plan to inspect powerplant in more coordinated by NTSB.
