From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 1/19/99, at approximately 1035 PST, aron fencil landed at the Borrego Springs, California airport in N5274M, a Beechcraft model BE-76 aircraft. After landing, during the roll out, fencil indicated that as he was tetracting the wing flaps, the nose landing gear retracted. Neither fencil, nor his tow passenter, both cfi's, were injured. The aircraft received minor damage. No fire resulted. Investigation by maintenance personnel could not determine the cause of the nose landing gear retraction. No defects could be found in the landing gear retraction system. No damage was noted to the retraction/extension system components. Discussed this incident with fencil. Discussed the possibility of inadvertently retrcting the landing gear instead of the flaps on roll out. PIC does not believe the landing gear was mistakenly raised during roll out. Referred this matter to the safety program manager.
