From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft was slow on final and landed hard, the seat broke loose and came down on the aileron controls, and the acft ground looped on the rwy. (-23)pilot reported that when turning from base to final a shudder was felt in control stick. Descent seemed normal until he tried to flair. When he tried to flair he had no elevator response, and landed hard at this point the plastic seat broke. When the seat broke it came down on the aileron cables. The weight on the cables rendering. The ailerons inoperable. The right main gear strut bent and the aircraft tipped onto right wing. Investigation revealed that the stabilator trim netuator had broken at the hard mount leaving free to move up or down. This was probably the shudder felt in stick and would make elevator control ineffective.

As the FAA filed it

ACFT WAS SLOW ON FINAL AND LANDED HARD, THE SEAT BROKE LOOSE AND CAME DOWN ON THE AILERON CONTROLS, AND THE ACFT GROUND LOOPED ON THE RWY. (-23)PILOT REPORTED THAT WHEN TURNING FROM BASE TO FINAL A SHUDDER WAS FELT IN CONTROL STICK. DESCENT SEEMED NORMAL UNTIL HE TRIED TO FLAIR.WHEN HE TRIED TO FLAIR HE HAD NO ELEVATOR RESPONSE, AND LANDED HARD AT THIS POINT THE PLASTIC SEAT BROKE.
