From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-5)Has had trouble with the engine idling rough at low power settings once the engine was warmed up. Had made 3 prior attempts to land at a higher power setting where the engine ran smoothly, but plane wouldn't descend through ground effect. On the final attempt, he retarded the throttle farther, experienced a very low idle and could not arrest the resulting rapid rate of descent. A ground loop ensued after a hard landing. The landing gear bungees broke, the prop was splintered and underside of lower wing was scraped.
