From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On April 25, 1999, at approximately 1614 MDT. A Cessna T-50-50, N69072, on takeoff at El Paso International Airport in El Paso, TX., experienced power fluctuations at liftoff. The takeoff was aborted and the aircraft settled back to the runway then returned to the ramp. A post flight inspection revealed no reason for the fluctuations. The aircraft remained over night in El Paso and eparted agin on April 26, 1999, at approximately 0947 MDT. The departure was normal until the landing gear was retracted at whick time the right engine began to operate again. The aircraft commenced to return for landing and the gear was again exteded and again the right engine quit. The aircraft landed safely and an extensive post flight inspection was made by maintenance personnel. The inspection revealed a broken mixture control clamp on the right engine. Further test were conducted including landing gear retraction. When the gear was retracted, contact with the right engine mixture control was made causing fuel starvation and engine failure. The clamp was replaced holding the mixture cable in place and the aircraft was returned to service. The aircraft was flown to flordia without further incident. File closed.
