From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft crashed into a field under unknown circumstances. (-23) PIC attempted to land with a 14 kt quartering tailwind on unimproved grass strip adjacent to an rv park. First 1/2 of available landing area was uphill; the remainder was relatively level. An unsecured auto part weighing approx. 5 lbs. Was laying in the baggage area. PIC stated that, at touchdown, the a/c bounced and the auto part flew forward, striking the heads of both occupants and momentarily dazing the PIC. A go-around was attempted; however, the a/c's left wing struck a telephone pole, shearing the wing outboard of the fuel tank. The a/c then struck trees before impacting the ground in a pasture.
