From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(Tty) acft was performing touch and go landings when it clipped power lines and crash landed, other circumstances are unknown. (.19) on may 19, 1999, at 2100 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28R-201T, N6558C, owned and operated by the pilot, was substantially damaged after impacting a wire during final approach to the Taylor Municipal Airport near Taylor, Texas. The private pilot, sole occupant of the aircraft, was not injured. Dark night visual meteorological conditions prevailed, and a flight plan was not filed for the 14 code of federal regulations part 91 personal flight. The local flight originated from the Taylor Municipal Airport. During a night approach to runway 17, the pilot allowed the aircraft to descend below glide path, and the aircraft impacted a wire. The aircraft's engine lost power and the aircraft touched down in a corn field, approx. 200-300 feet short of the runway. According to the pilot, after the aircraft touched down, the wire "yanked" the aircraft around to the left. The aircraft came to rest upright 90 degrees from the approach heading. An examination of the aircraft by the FAA inspector revealed a wire wrapped around the propeller hub, and the l eft wing partially separated from the fuselage. (.4) the pilot reported on his tenth night landing to the runway, the approach was a little high, so he elected to do another landing. However, on the next approach, he 'overcompensated and fell below the glide slope,' and the airplane impacted a wire. The wire wrapped around the propeller, the engine lost power, and the airplane touched down in a corn field, approximately 200-300 feet short of the runway. After touchdown, the wire 'yanked' the airplane around to the left, and it came to rest upright 90 degrees from the approach heading. (-23)while making night approaches into Taylor, Texas, pilot got too low and struct power line on north end of runway 17. Line wrapped around prop and engine stopped. A/c touched down short of runway in cornfield. Aircraft substantial damage-pilot not injured.

As the FAA filed it
