From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(.4)The pilot attempted to make a three point, full stall landing, but stalled the airplane about 1 foot above the runway. On touchdown the tail struck the runway and the airplane bounced back into the air. As the airplane continued to porpoise down the runway, the pilot added power and left rudder when a gust of wind caught the airplane from the right. The left wing tip struck the runway and the airplane ground looped. (-23)aircraft on short, steep final. Pilot states he leveled off to high. Aircraft bounced then struck the wing tip. Aircraft taxied off the runway. Damage is from wing tip, inward involving 5 ribs, spar appears to have been bent. Pilot has been undergoing additional training from the instructor for tail wheel operations prior to this day. Pilot states he had just done 8 landings with the instructor on board that were all fine.
