From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mr. Doublas noted that voice traffic at apa was extremely high as he entered the traffic pattern., he feels he inadvertently or accidently hit the "defeat" button that cancels the nose gear warning for this type aircraft. Flare and landing were normal, but as he lowered the nose realized the nose gear was retracted. Inspection revealed only minor damage to the skin and foam thereunder. Mr. Douglas stated that the steel belted tire fragment attached for just such an event was only partially scuffed. Mr. Douglas stated he was modifying his aircraft to prevent such an occurrence again. privacy data omitted
