From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) The aircraft landed at the gso airport. During the landing roll witnesses stated that they observed the left main tire smoking during the entire landing. Atlantic aero (local FBO) was called to tow the aircraft in. The pilot told them that he thought that the "tire needed a little air". After conversing with the crew, the pilot walked toward the FBO building. No one saw the pilot after that. On Monday, June 21, atlantic aero, after contacting the registered owner, atlantic aero discovered that the aircraft had been stolen on Friday, June 18th, from the fso airport. The pilot involved in the incident was apparently attempting to return the aircraft when the incident occurred. The aircraft registration number had been changed to N318Z (which was the number the pilot used with Greensboro ATC prior to landing) and then changed back to N3182L. Traces of paint were still visible from the n# change. The local police, airport police, and fbi are investigating.
