From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During take off from iag a door popped open. The pilot informed the air traffic control tower that he had an opened door and wanted to come back and land. The air traffic controller gave him the clearance and witnessed the aircraft fly in the pattern with the gear down and that the gear was still down on final approach. At the point when air traffic control lost sight of the gear position, there was a witness on the ground who watched the aircraft come in for the landing. The witness stated to individuals at the scene that he saw that the landing gear was up, right before the aircraft touched down. The pilot stated the gear down light was not illuminated and he went to full power to try and go around but touched down instead.
