From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) At 19000', right generator light illuminated, started loosing engine instruments on right side (prior to generator light). Light went out, right essential light came on, smelled smoke, declared emergency. During troubleshooting, following gauges inop itt, np, tq and wf. Swapped all gauges to left side, all gauges indicate shorted. Corrective action: maintenance removed and replaced #2 DC generator that caused over voltage, and also removed and replaced the wiring electronic unit (w.e.u.) due to the fact that this unit was giving eroneous indications to gauges. American airlines maintenance had submitted a service difficulty report (SDR), this incident is closed.
