From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was practicing touch and go landings at Montrose co. (mtj). When landing gear was lowered the main gear would not lock in the down position. He tried to lower the gear manually with no results. He contacted a mechanic by radio who directed him through several operations to lower the landing gear with no results. The aircraft landed with gear locked in the up position at Montrose co., causing minor damage to the aircraft belly skins, prop and engine. Inspection of the unlock and sequence actuator assembly revealed a ball bearing had failed.
