From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) This owner/operator stated that during short-field take-off practice he turned his airplane around quickly under high power at the departure end of runway 03, swung a little wide on the turn, and his propeller struck a discarded wad of aluminum wire near the edge of the runway. He said the wire was obscured by grass and in an area often used by taxiing aircraft. The pilot said he aborted the take-off and removed the wire from the air strip. He said he informed the airport manager of this FOD and had a mechanic dress the nicks in his propeller and polish out a scratch in his windshield before he continued flying. This incident is closed with this report. No further action.
