From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On July 27, 1999, at 0954 CST, a Cessna, model 182K, N2884R, operated by a private pilot, under a VFR flight plan, made an emergency landing in a grass field 26 miles west of walnut ridge due to engine power lost. During cruise at 5,000 feet MSL, the engine quit, due to fuel starvation. The aircraft landed without incident. No injuries to pilot or passenger were incurred and the aircraft sustained no damges during final landing. Visual meteorological conditions prevailed. The pilot reported that he may have forgotten to secure the fuel cap when he serviced the fuel tanks at kennett memorial airport prior to departure on July 27, 1999. The PIC said the fuel siphon out during flight which resulted in a forced landing. The intended destination was cgi.
