From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot with 3 pax on board had just taken off from cincinnati, OH lunken airport (luk) at approx. 2220 on 7/30/99 enroute to middletown, OH airport (mwo). And approx. 10 min. Into the flight at 2300 ft the engine started vibrating excessively and a loss of oil pressure was noted and oil covered the entire windshield. The pilot made an emergency landing on interstate highway (I-75) striking an automobile. Minor damage occurred to the automobile and aircraft, with no injuries or fatalities to passengers or pilot. Preliminary investigation of the aircraft showed that #6 cylinder connecting rod had broken and separated from the crankshaft. Note: teledyne Continental motors to perform tear down inspection.
