From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Aircraft N329AW, operating as flight 2517, arrived at Phoenix Sky Harbor International, Arizona airport at 1624 MST from long beach airport, California. Aircraft landed on runway 26 right and was cleared by ground control to spot "k" (kilo), tis is a line where aircraft taxi on ramp area without hitting other aircraft parked at gates, via taxiway "c" (charlie). A catering truck was stopped on the ramp area between gates A-12 and A-10 and beyond the tail of aircraft parked on ramp. The driver of the catering truck had left the vehicle in order to have ramp personnel move ground equipment so the catering truck could approach and cater the aircraft at gate A-10. At about 150 feet west of spot "k" the flight crew of flight 2517 selected ramp control frequency. Both the captain and first officer then cleared the ramp area down the line of spot "k". After turning onto the "k" taxi line the aircraft struck the catering truck approx. 2 feet in on the left wing. The aircraft flight crew felt a jolt and pulled to the left. The crew then stopped the aircraft and established communications with ramp control and ground personnel. The captain then looked back to the left wing and saw the catering truck tipped over and at that time aircraft engines were shut down. After it was determined that there was no fuel leak, the aircraft was towed to gate A-2. The position of the catering truck was approx. 45.5 feet from the center of taxi line "k". The distance from the center of the aircraft to the wing tip is 47 feet 4.5 inches. There was slight injuries to one of the catering personnel sitting in the truck. The Phoenix police, Phoenix airport fire department, city of Phoenix airport personnel and america west employees secured the site. This incident was reported to the los angeles regional office by Phoenix air traffic control tower and was listed as a towed aircraft striking a catering truck. Captain stated that he did not see the catering truck while taxiing the aircraft and felt the truck moved into his aircraft. Statements from witnesses state the catering truck was not moving. Construction to a new terminal to the west of incident added to the congestion in the area.
