On takeoff roll, 600' from threshold of rwy 11, acft veered left off rwy, across taxiway, across ramp area, struck two acft, and stopped 20' from terminal bldg, instructor pilot unable to overpower student pilot, 2 minor injuries, N23661 struck N32281 and N13BR, N13BR rolled back and struck N82AW. (.19) on August 8, 1999, at 1610 central daylight time, a Piper PA-28-161, N2366W, was substantially damaged when it collided with parked airplanes following a loss of directional control. The loss of control occurred during a takeoff roll on runway 11 (3,800 feet by 100 feet) at the Schaumburg regional airport, Schaumburg, Illinois. The certificated flight instructor was not injured and the student pilot received minor injuries. The 14 CFR part 91 local dual instructional flight was operating in visual meteorological conditions without a flight plan. The flight was originating at the time of the accident. The airplane began to veer to the left side of the runway approximately 450 feet into the takeoff roll. The airplane departed the left side of the runway after traveling an additional 150 feet. The airplane then crossed through a grass area where it cleared a ditch. It continued over the parallel taxiway and onto the ramp where it contacted N3228W, a Beech bonanza, and N13BR, a Piper apache. When contacted, the Piper apache was pushed rearward into N82AW, a T-28. The three airplanes contacted were parked and unoccupied on the ramp. (-23)pn August 8, 1999, N2366W, a PA-28-160, veered left during takeoff on runway 11 at the Schaumburg airport (06C). N2366W ran off the runway, near rotation speed, after about 600 feet. N2366W continued across the ditch and taxiway on to the ramp area. N2366W traveled across ramp area stopping after colliding with two parked aircraft N3228W, a BE-36 and N13BR a PA-23-235, 1,000 to 1,500 feet from where N2366W left the runway. Witness statement indicate the power was not reduced on N2366W until the aircraft was on the ramp area. Tire marks from braking did not appear until N2366W was less than 100 ffet from the parked aircraft. (.4) the CFI reported the student had the left brake applied as he began to add power for takeoff. The airplane veered to the left side of the runway. The CFI told the student to maintain the centerline, at which time the stu dent took his foot off the brake and applied full power. The airplane continued off the runway, bounced over a ditch and onto the ramp. The CFI reduced the power to idle and applied brakes, but was unable to stop the airplane. She reported that the dual student had both feet on the rudder pedals, and she was unable to maneuver the airplane to avoid other airplanes on the ramp. The airplane contacted two airplanes parked on the ramp, one of which was pushed into a third airplane.
As the FAA filed it
ON TAKEOFF ROLL, 600' FROM THRESHOLD OF RWY 11, ACFT VEERED LEFT OFF RWY, ACROSS TAXIWAY, ACROSS RAMP AREA, STRUCK TWO ACFT, AND STOPPED 20' FROM TERMINAL BLDG, INSTRUCTOR PILOT UNABLE TO OVERPOWER STUDENT PILOT, 2 MINOR INJURIES, N23661 STRUCK N32281 AND N13BR, N13BR ROLLED BACK AND STRUCK N82AW.
