From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Acft lost power during aerial application, the right wing struck the cotton plants, the left wing tipped, and the acft slid 300 yards, other circumstances are unknown. (-23)the pilot stated that during an application run, the a/c engine appeared to undergo a reduction in power. The pilot elected to accomplish a precautionary landing. During the role out phase of the landing on a tractor turn road, the right spray boom and right wing tip entangled in the agricultural vegetation (cotton). The a/c turned right and tipped left. The left wingcontacted the ground causing extensive damage. The a/c ontinued sliding left, finally coming to rest approx. 100 feet from initial vegetation contact. The fuselage frame broke just aft of the pilot's station. The engine continued to run, with no damage to the propeller. The left main landing gear collapsed causing extensive damage to the lower airframe above the landing gear. An engine run was performed with no indication of failure.
