From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On August 25, 1999, the pilot of N102VE, a Cessna 208B, aborted takeoff due to the cargo load shifting to the back of the aircraft. A pilot who assisted in loading the aircraft stated he observed the pilot of N102VE tighten down the cargo straps. After the aircraft had returned to the ramp, the pilot of N102VE showed him a cargo strap with the cleat out of the track, the ring stretched oblong, and the finger of the hook bent sideways. The reason the cargo system released is unknown.
