From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On September 16, 1999, Mr. Rudolph pena, PIC of N2485V, a Cessna model 140, landed on a private airstrip four miles south of Victoria, TX. This airstrip was located on loop 463 one mile south of highway 87, in Ball Texas. On touch down the aircraft veered off to the left of the runway mid field and into rough terrain. The aircraft sustained minor damage to the lower fuselage skin forward and aft of the landing gear, damage to the carburetor and exhaust pipes. No fires or injuries noted. The aircraft was moved into a hangar where repairs will be performed. Notes: through further investigation of the airstrip it was noted that the runway was narrow and was designed with a large crown (ark), privacy data omitted due to airport/runway condition and pilot experience this office has determined that the pilot was unfamiliar with the landing conditions. privacy data omitted
