From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On November 07, 1999 at approximately 0030 EST N2191T, a Piper PA-28-180, owned by Mr. Frank ciampa, and flown by Mr. Jeremy ciampa struck a powerline wire during an approach to a landing on runway 5 at Sheridan Airport, Sheridan, Indiana. Mr. Jeremy ciampa stated that he and a friend were out on a personal pleasure flight on the evening of November 7, 1999 and decided to land at Sheridan Airport. They turned on the lights, which are radio controlled and entered a downwind leg for runway 5 at 1000 feet AGL. Mr. Ciampa stated that when he turned to final he realized that he was too high. (One quarter mile out and 600 AGL.) He reduced power to idle ans extended full flaps. He said that the displaced threshold was lit with red lights and that was his target. He further stated that his arispeed in the descent was 90 knots. He heard a twang noise just before arriving at the threshold but the aircraft continued without any change. He made a normal landing and taxied in to check the aircraft. He found scratches on the propeller spinner and cowl.
