From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)The aircraft was/is certificated in experimental category for purpose of FAA certification for type certification. This hard landing was the result of what is termed a high hover test. In this test the aircraft is loaded over gross weight, operated at a high elevation (7000 ft), zero wind and zero airspeed. On engine is shut down and a recovery is performed. There is no indication of any FAR violation or pilot incompetency. This was a test that evaluates the aircraft under extreme operational parameters and as is sometimes the case, this test was not without smoe negative results. The damage was minor and no injuries resulted, privacy data omitted
