From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Two days before the flight, the pilot-in-command completed the same trip in the same aircraft and refueled the aircraft adding 75 gals of fuel for the 4.3 hour flight. On the night of November 2, 1999, the owner-pilot and a new hire pilot employee planned the trip. On the last leg of the flight, fuel was exhausted from the right tank. Left tank indicated fuel quantity of 1/4 fuel. Pilot decided to land at Sioux Falls, SD (fsd), along his route of flight for fuel. Descent was started and engine lost power. Pilot electred not to extend landing gear to glide to the airport. Airplane came to rest approximately 50 feet down the runway with the gear retracted.
