From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) On December 12, 1999, philippine airlines b 747-400 struck an American airlines baggage cart while being marshaled into Honolulu International Airport, gate 17, by contract maintenance mechanics from aloho airlines (tsaa) aided by worldwide flight services, inc. (worldwide) wing walkers. The arrival mechanics were not ready to receive the aircraft so one of them left the gate to get the required chocks at gate 19. The other tsaa mechanic began the marshaling of the aircraft with the wing walkers from worldwide in p[lace. When the aircraft was approximately one half of the way up the guide-in line it struck the American airlines baggage cart before the wing walkers were able to alert the marshaller of the pending collision. The damage was isolated to the #1 engine inlet, fan cowl, reverser cowl and the drain mast without any damage to the pylon or wing. The American airlines cart was damaged in the center area of the right hand side of the roof. Corrective action planned by chdo unknown at this time.
