What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) Pilot was inbound to Merrill field, was assigned and landed on runway 15. Wind varying rapidly 130/210 and gusty. Runway had snow over ice and as it slowed the aircraft started a side drift to the right. The aircraft would not respond to control input. As the right wheel got into deeper snow the aircraft tipped up on its nose and stopped. The pilot got out, pulled the tail down and taxied to parking. Counseled pilot on icy runway techniques, control input and preparedness for gusty wind conditions. Also the possibility of asking for a different runway.
