From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)Occurence happened during descent. Pilots heard a loud rumbling noise, which they though was airframe noise, then the #1 engine low engine-oil pressure annunciator illuminated, oil pressure indicated zero, approximately 2 seconds prior to engine failure. The crew initiated a sequence to secure the engine, however engine failed prior to execution. Maintenace crew on scene suspects a bearing failure (oil on commpressor blades, oil pump housing failure, with oil and metal in the filter and cowling). Engine is being shipped to dallas for overhaul, and a teardown report will be forwarded to the oak FSDO, as required.
