From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)Pilot departed storm lake airport (slb) en route to Fort Dodge regional airport (FOD). Upon retracting the landing gear the pilot reparted hearing a loud popping sound. Pilot made low pass over slg and was told that the landing gear appeared to be up and locked. Pilot elected to continue to destination. Pilot lowered landing in preparation for landing at FOD and landing gear indicator showed gear was down. As pilot landed and nose gear touched down, the nose gear collapsed. Failure of a bearing in the nose landing gear linkage resulted in a situation where the nose gear could not be extended to the down and locked position. The failure of the bearing was not due to and cannot be linked to either maintenance or operational errors.
