From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)On 8/06/2000 the pilot back taxied taylor craft N95846 to the north end of Leland Lake for a take off to the south. The lake was calm and glassy. The pilot stated that he became airborne but the aircraft wouldn't gain altitude. The pilot stated that he didn't think he would be able to clear the trees at the other end so he landed the aircraft straight ahead. The aircraft touched down in a slip. The floats were damaged on touchdown. The pilot was counseled on take off procedures for glassy water and on the necessity for staying current. The pilots flight instructor will monitor and provide the necessary training and check rides to complete his private pilot certificate.
