From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) While privacy data omitted was taxing his gyrocopter on the ne/sw taxiway, he observed an aircraft exiting the active runway and was unsure as to whether this aircraft was going to hold short of the taxiway. privacy data omitted Initiated the braking procedure, requiring him to take one foot off one of the rudder pedals. As he was doing this the gyrocopter veered to the right of the taxi centerline. privacy data omitted Freely admitted that he "over reacted", causing the aircraft to turn over onto the grassy area between the taxiway and runway. The rotor blade, as well as the propeller, struck the soft dirt as his aircraft tipped over onto its right side. privacy data omitted Then shut down the aircraft engine and exited the gyrocopter. Other than the damage done to his aircraft, there was no injury to other people or property on the ground. privacy data omitted Stated that he was not injured as a result of what transpired. Attached is privacy data omitted statement of events.

As the FAA filed it

(-23) WHILE ^PRIVACY DA^ WAS TAXING HIS GYROCOPTER ON THE NE/SW TAXIWAY, HE OBSERVED AN AIRCRAFT EXITING THE ACTIVE RUNWAY AND WAS UNSURE AS TO WHETHER THIS AIRCRAFT WAS GOING TO HOLD SHORT OF THE TAXIWAY. ^PRIVACY DA^ INITIATED THE BRAKING PROCEDURE, REQUIRING HIM TO TAKE ONE FOOT OFF ONE OF THE RUDDER PEDALS. AS HE WAS DOING THIS THE GYROCOPTER VEERED TO THE RIGHT OF THE TAXI CENTERLINE. ^PRIVACY DA^ FREELY ADMITTED THAT HE "OVER REACTED", CAUSING THE AIRCRAFT TO TURN OVER ONTO THE GRASSY AREA BETWEEN THE TAXIWAY AND RUNWAY. THE ROTOR BLADE, AS WELL AS THE PROPELLER, STRUCK THE SOFT DIRT AS HIS AIRCRAFT TIPPED OVER ONTO ITS RIGHT SIDE. ^PRIVACY DA^ THEN SHUT DOWN THE AIRCRAFT ENGINE AND EXITED THE GYROCOPTER. OTHER THAN THE DAMAGE DONE TO HIS AIRCRAFT, THERE WAS NO INJURY TO OTHER PEOPLE OR PROPERTY ON THE GROUND. ^PRIVACY DA^ STATED THAT HE WAS NOT INJURED AS A RESULT OF WHAT TRANSPIRED. ATTACHED IS ^PRIVACY DATA^ STATEMENT OF EVENTS.
