From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)This aircraft was undergoing flight tests at the time of this incident. This is an experimental category aircraft is undergoing development for future production as a homebuilt/kit. The aircraft was on its 2nd flight of the day when, on final approach it was noted that the left main gear did not indicate down & locked. This initial landing approach was at the cannon city airport. Upon realizing there was a gear problem, PIC decided to do a fly-by at the publeo tower. Tower confirmed that the left main gear was not fully extended. Landing was decided to be at pueblo, due to availability of CFR equipment. Landing resulted in minor structural damage to the composite structure of the fuselage. Investigation by the manufacturer has revealed that a weld on the left main strut did not have proper penetration. This landing gear is a fabricated unit unique to this aircraft. Different welding fabricator is planned for future construction.
