From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)The pilot operated a non-certificated, non-registered home built challenger 2 airplane as pilot-in-command. The pilot stated, that during this flight of challenger was extremely difficult to control and gaining altitude after take off was virtually impossible. The pilot said that he was able to stay airborne long enough to make an unscheduled landing in a farm field just off the airport. This off airport landing caused the right main landing gear wheel to be severed from the airplane. This incident is closed with this report.
