From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Pilot was landing on runway 10 when, on touch down, the tail wheel spring broke and separated from the aircraft. The pilot used reverse thrust and right rudder input to keep aircraft on the center line without a tail wheel. The pilot then used brakes to stop the aircraft while the aircraft veered left off the runway. The aircraft right main landing gear was severed and the aircraft came to rest on the left wheel and the right wingtip. Some damage to the top outboard area of the right wing was evident, but the spar appeared unharmed. All five propeller blades were damaged in the occurrence.
