From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) Student took off and remained in pattern to practice touch and go landings. Weather was VFR with light wind. On first landing, the aircraft hit hard and bounced. Pilot reports she added power to counteract bounce. Second landing resulted in failure of nose gear fork where it attaches to nose gear strut. Pilot reported she had the nose in the proper attitude for landing. The aircraft skidded on the nose gear strut to a stop. The break on the nose gear fork was clean indicating the lack of previous damage. Aircraft maintenance is not an issue.
