From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23)This was the initial flight of a recently completed experimental amateur built aircraft. The 45 minute flight went as planned and the only problem noted was that the airspeed indicator appeared to read 20 knots slow. Piilot made 2 low passes down the runway before attempting a landing. During a tail low landing the aircraft "skipped" and the nose drifted to the right. The right main gear collapsed followed by the left main gear rupturing the fuel tanks and the aircraft burned.
