From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

(-23) During routine local flight pilot noticed that the header tank was running low on fuel. Aircraft had plenty of fuel in wing tanks, but for reasons unknown, the engine driven fuel pump was not replenishing the header tank. The pilot headed back to the airport. Just prior to approaching the airport the engine quit. The pilot made an emergency landing on a grass field nearby the airport. Aircraft was towed to airport and put in hangar. Fuel pump had been replaced approximately 2 flight hours prior to this failure.
