What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
(-23) After loading the aircraft with chemical, the pilot used reverse thrust to back away from the loading area. This method is used to prevent taxiing over loose gravel and sand to avoid ingestion in the compressor inlet. The pilot checked for obstructions before backing up. He noted a delivery truck parked in front of his hangar to his left and nothing behind him to the right. He looked back to the left again before backing up. He looked to his right and began backing up. In the interim, another truck pulled in front of the hangar and did a u-turn with intentions of backing up to the hangar door to unload. The truck was then struck by the aircraft that was backing up as the truck was still coming to a stop prior to backing up.
